Policy Circle
Status: Establishing
Aim
The Policy Circle provides the means by which the ELCAN community might influence and shape policy development and decision-making, including that of ELC, so that they are aligned with positive climate action, nature and environmental goals.
Domain
The Policy Circle will:
- With respect to ELC, the Policy Circle will also:
- Review and assess (a) progress on delivery of the agreed Climate Change Strategy; (b) decisions taken or about to be taken by ELC to ensure that they are aligned with the said Strategy; (c) ELC consultations on matters which would negatively impact on delivery of the said Strategy
- Recommend actions, including consultation with the wider ELCAN membership, where progress on the Climate Change Strategy is lacking and/or decisions or proposed policy changes are not in alignment with the said strategy; and
- Submit recommended actions and responses to the ELCAN Board for clearance/feedback.
- Proposed communication of ELCAN representations to ELC on any of the above will be submitted by the Board for consideration. In the early stages of its work the Policy Circle aims to focus its attention on housing and planning issues, including LDP2. In the interim outward communications must be issued from the Board (e.g. via a shared email address). In due course, we expect outward comms will be managed by the Policy Circle.
